Beginning in Fall 2009, a new program will be available to students in the CIS department. The program is an Accelerated 4+1 BSCIS/MCIS program, which will provide qualified students the opportunity to earn both their bachelor and master degrees in five years.

In Fall 2009, the BSCIS program will undergo changes for both CIS and CSC concentrations. These improvements were designed by the department to further the depth and breadth of computer science knowledge attained through our undergraduate offerings.

On Friday, February 27th, 2009 from 9 AM to 2 PM, Cleveland State University will hold its 30th Annual Spring Career Fair. The event will be held in the Physical Education Building at 2451 Euclid Avenue.
Many employers looking for studnets with a background in CIS/IST will be there. Interested students are encouraged to look at the employer list prior to attending to see which organizations you might be interested in. It is recommended that you dress in professional business attire and bring plenty of resumes with you.

After spending several months in Zambia on a Fulbright assignment, department chairman Dr. Santosh Misra has returned to Cleveland State.
"The objective of my Fulbright assignment was to develop a master's program in computer science. In addition, I was requested to review the existing Bachelor's program and suggest changes if necessary.
A draft master's program has been developed and been accepted by the department faculty. The proposal will go for further approval when the University reopens in March after the summer break."

We hope everybody had a Happy New Year! With another new year though, it means we are closer to the start of Spring Semester 2009. If you haven't registered for your CIS/IST classes yet, please do so now. You can also see what book's you will need by visiting the Bookstore's website. Class registration for Summer 2009 is also available at this time.

Attension MCIS Students: The following new rule will be in place for new and current MCIS students starting in Spring 2009:
A student may choose a maximum of 3 courses from the following list with hours applying to the MCIS degree:
When a student completes more than three of these courses, only 12 hours will apply toward the MCIS degree.

If you are interested in seeing the availability of CIS or IST courses for the Spring 2009 semester, you may do so by logging in to CampusNet. Early registration is available from November 3 to November 13 by appointment with the Office of the University Registrar. Depending on what semester of school you are in, you may be eligible to register without appointment at some point between these dates. All students should be able to register for their classes on November 14.
Remember that several courses will be offered online, including IST 203, IST 221, IST 305, and IST 635 (may require some in-person meetings). If you have any questions about classes, please contact the department or send us a message online.
