The department offers several degree programs : In addition, the department supports a concentration in Information System Auditing (ISA). A student can specialize in ISA along with a major in Accounting. The Doctor of Business Administration with IST major(DBA) is a research oriented degree program that emphasizes management of Information Systems. The Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) program prepares a student for an academic career in teaching and research at the college or university level. The IST major is one of the majors included in the college's doctoral program. All students are expected to complete several core courses in research methodology before starting their specialization in Information Systems. Master of Computer & Information Science(MCIS) The Master in Computer and Information Science (MCIS) is an applied, professional degree program that is specifically designed to combine a thorough education in computer and information science, with applications in the areas of business, engineering, mathematics, or other relevant fields. The emphasis is on advanced programming using the latest technologies. The MCIS degree was significantly modified in Spring 2003 to include several new courses that reflect emerging areas in technology, including:
The modification has resulted in a state-of-the-art MCIS program that includes timely, advanced courses that challenge the student and prepare him/her to meet the constantly increasing demand for top-notch computer professionals.
Bachelor of Business Administration with Information Systems(BBAIS) The Information Systems Major (IST) in the BBA degree program prepares students for careers in information systems by focusing on the use of current information technology within the context of an organization. Graduates of the IS major will have combined preparation in business core courses and applied computing. They will not only have the necessary managerial skills to solve business problems in functional areas, but also technical knowledge to develop and support information systems of any scope. Bachelor of Science in Computer and Information Science(BSCIS) The BSCIS program is interdisciplinary in structure, offering great flexibility for planning an academic program. It is designed to prepare the student for a professional career which uses the techniques and methodology of computers or for graduate work in the Computer and Information Science areas. The BSCIS program provides the student with a strong foundation in the Computer and Information Science discipline, while the curriculum reflects current computing trends and provides the latest computer technology to enable a Nance CIS graduate to be very competitive in the marketplace. Because of the broad range of research interests of the faculty, there are numerous opportunities for students to participate in special projects or research in all areas of computer and information science. Informations System Auditing Concentration(ISAC) Information System Auditing provides accounting graduates (or others interested in auditing) necessary skills to audit controls in the information technology applications and systems of an organization. Role of an Information System Auditor includes evaluating and encouraging organizations to maintain appropriate standards, procedures and controls for information systems. Importance of auditing information systems has grown over the years due to rapid advances in information technology (IT) as well as the unprecedented growth in IT use globally in businesses and governments.
